Poly Glaze By Lisa Pavelka's Heart in Hand Studio™ Skip the Sanding, forget the buffing and polishing! Create special effects on baked polymer clay in one easy step. Poly-Glaze is quick drying for a flawless glass-like finish that glazes, seals and protects. The fine applicator tip makes it easy to get pin point accuracy during application. Poly-Glaze is acid free and non-toxic making it perfect for other applications on paper and other materials for scrapbooking and much more. • Create depth by adding multiple layers. Poly-Glaze maintains its crystal clear finish, layer after layer. Let each layer dry between coats (usually 15-60 minutes depending on thickness, room temperature, humidity, etc.) • Use with Lisa's Faux Dichroic and foil techniques to get the look of genuine art glass using polymer clay! Before baking, seal foils with a thin layer of Fimo Decorating Gel with a brush or finger, to prevent the color from fading. • Poly Glaze is self-leveling. • Poly Glaze holds a bead. No edging is required to hold it in. It can even be applied over curved and cylindrical objects (Thin layers applied with a slightly dampened brush are recommended. Additional layers can be added as desired, letting each coat dry thoroughly before additional coatings are added). • Remains flexible and won't yellow. • Seal the finished piece with non-yellowing (like Essie brand) clear nail polish, Future, or water-based Varathane to create a waterproof finish. Lisa's Poly Glaze Tips Poly Glaze is non bakable. It is meant as an after baking surface treatment. To help prevent air bubbles, tip the bottle upside down. Start the flow of Poly Glaze on a scrap piece of paper. Then you're ready to glaze! If air bubbles occur, drag them to the outer edge of the item being glazed with a needle tool or toothpick. Press your fingertip onto the bubble and lift away. Fill in with more glaze if needed. Outline the item to be glazed and fill in the center. Do not overfill. Drying time varies between 15 minutes to 1 hour on average depending on the thickness, room temperature, humidity, ventilation, etc. more layers can be added to create depth. Building layer upon layer will create a rounded cabochon effect. Build clear depth by applying Poly Glaze in layers. Let each layer dry until crystal clear before adding another layer. Layers can be built up without losing the crystal clear clarity. Create Cabochon effects by building up layers, even on textured pieces! IMPORTANT! Poly Glaze is a water-based product. Contact with moisture and body oils can cause fogging with prolonged contact. Prevent this and waterproof the finish by applying a layer of non-yellowing clear nail polish, Acrylic floor sealer like Future, or a water-based Varathane over the dried, final layer.
