Remember when you could find cotton thread at your local sewing store? Have you read a label lately? Now you are forced to use the "cotton wrapped poly" because it is the one that is pushed at your local sewing store. Why is it so popular? Because it is less expensive to make! Why is this not the best thread? Because the poly can tear holes in your fabric! They count on our ignorance (or bad eyesight!). Quilters are probably one of the best educated sewers out there....they know, cotton is best, and they would never consider using anything but the best in their beautiful treasures. Cotton thread is carried at your better quilting stores. It is also marketed to the sewing industry. I seldom sew with anything but cotton. I use it on my serger, and sewing machine, I use it for decorative stitching.

SERGERS! So you want to use your serger, you go through lots of thread, but you really don't have room for a cone on your machine. And you don't have room for all those cones! These tubes will fit, 4 of them! You can always use a gigantic spool for your looper, but the other spools don't really need to be 12,000 yards! Besides, how do you buy 4 spools in the same color? I found a neat trick, I always buy my thread in "pairs"...that way, you can use a darker (or lighter) shade for the threads that don't really show, and the closer match for the seam thread. This thread really helps, because it also fits on the spindle of the sewing machine!
