Collins 3-Way Sandboard 12 1/2"x 12 1/2"
The three different surfaces of this convenient tool make it one of the most versatile quiltmaking items in any quiltmaker's studio!

USE THE TEXTURED SURFACE FOR: Marking Applique or Hand Piecing Templates: Place fabric over textured surface board. Place plastic or acrylic templates on fabric and mark around template. The textured surface of the board holds the fabric in place, keeping it from slipping or bunching. The textured surface also creates friction, making it easier to mark. This prevents stretching the fabric while marking. Marking quilt designs: Place fabric over textured surface of board. Mark quilt designs using stencils or templates. The textured surface grips the fabric, holding it securely while marking the quilting design. Tip: For easier handling, mark quilting designs on individual blocks before joining the quilt top.

USE THE FELT SURFACE FOR: Hand or machine piecing: Lay out fabric pieces in correct sewing order on the felt surface. Fabric pieces will stay in place until you are ready to sew each one. Tip: Place board upright on a small easel or against a vertical surface to create a visual reminder of sewing order for quilts blocks. Exploring Designs: Audition a variety of colors, fabrics and designs by laying out fabric pieces on felt surface. Trade out colors and change placement to create endless design possibilities. The 12 1/2" square is perfect for traditional quilt blocks, and for designing miniature quilts.

USE THE WHITE LAMINATE SURFACE FOR: Use the white laminate side of the board as a tracing surface. Tape corners of pattern to board. Then tape freezer paper , template plastic or foundation paper over pattern and trace. Creating Quilt labels: Iron freezer paper to back of fabric label to stabilize fabric or writing. Tape corners of fabric label to white laminate side of the board. Use a permanent marking pen to sign label and document other information.
